My Grandmother (my dad's momma) passed away last week. I was not surprised to get the call, but it is still hard. Grandma was just so special to so many people. Before my grandfather died she did EVERYTHING for him. It was so neat to be at their little country house and watch their daily routine from breakfast all the way to bed time. They were just the sweetest little couple I have ever known. I hope that I can be as wonderful to Chris as she was to Grandpa. Wow, what a great example she was. I will miss her funny little personality so much. The things she would say were just hillarious! One of my favorites was "Bless his heart-he must have been hiding behind the door when good looks were handed out!" I have so many memories of spending several weeks during the summer in South Carolina with all my grandparents. She was the last of them to die and sadly, I feel like things are just kind of left there in SC. It's just wierd- I don't know how to explain it. You know-grandparents are just what holds big families together and when they are gone it is just different. Sydney really loved Grandma. Allthough she only saw her a couple of times a year she talked about her all the time. Everytime we went to the beach she would collect sea shells for Grandma Jones because she knew that she was not able to go to the beach. When I told her that she died she curled up in a little ball on the bed and said "Oh Momma, she was so nice to me and I didn't even get to tell her bye." Sydney loved talking to her on the phone.

The funeral was beautiful because at the graveside they released 4 doves and they were beautiful. My aunt wanted to do something special for the grandchildren. I'm so thankful for my family in SC who were able to take care of Grandma. Luckily, she never had to go into a nursing home or anything. I'm thankful of the knowledge that I have of the Gospel and I know that Grandma is in a better place. Sydney reminds me of that when I get sad. I'm thankful that I had Grandma in my life for almost 29 years. She was beautiful, smart, loving, caring, funny, and most of all hardworking. The pictures were taken at Grandma's house. I have so many memories of being on the front porch steps, on the swing, and in the back yard under the "vines"! The picture of Grandma and the kids was taken December '07.

I love you Grandma and you will be missed!

Dance Recital

Sydney's dance recital was at the Bama Theatre on May 10th. This event started way back in December when the acadmey had a "party" to announce all the different costumes. So, you can only imagine how huge this has been built up to the girls and how excited they were! They practiced over and over and over again! They had to learn a tap dance and a ballet dance and did great on both. For ballet the girls were guest at Betsy's Birthday party where they danced with baby dolls. The other part of Sydney's class were guests with games (they were in yellow). For the tap they were Little Rockettes. It was all VERY cute. Ofcourse, I got all teary eyed during the performance. I am proud of my little dancer!

The girls got to decorate their own bags. We had to drop them off at the stage door and there were helpers backstage to help them change into their next outfit. I'm proud of Sydney for doing all this without me!
Chris and I got Sydney some flowers and she LOVES them!
Sydney had a lot of people to come see her!

Valoree, Eric (Chris's brother), Janet (chris's step-mom), and Gary (Chris's step-dad) also came to see the little preformer. Some of us went to Pizza Hut afterwards.

Oral Surgery

Let me start from the beginning and say that I think I take pretty good care of Sydney's teeth. Ofcourse, we are not perfect, but we brush them twice a day and use mouth wash and take her to the dentist twice a year. Well, the last time we went the dentist said he saw some decay and referred us to a pediatric dentist. At that appointment we found out that Sydney had 4 cavaties! YES I said 4. I was VERY upset and ofcourse started crying! We had the choice to either go in the office 3 seperate times and have a shot in her mouth each time to have them fixed or to go to the surgical center and have her put to sleep and do them all at once. We chose the latter. So, last Thursday we had it done. WE got up that morning and John Evan was very sick. The plan was to take him to a babysitter and for Chris to leave work early and meet me at the Surgical Center. Well, I could not leave JE with him being that sick so Chris came home and I had to take Sydney by myself. Not fun! They called us back right away and gave her some "silly juice". It made her very silly. She was so cute the way she was acting and laughing. Luckily, it made her calm enough that she was not upset when they wheeled her away from me. From what I understand once they got her back there they gave her some gas and then started her IV. They assured me that she went right to sleep and was a very good patient. I sat in the waiting room and was entertained by a guy's butt crack hanging out and someone else "blowing up" the bathroom with some stank! Anyway, about 45 minutes later they came and got me. It was the saddest thing walking into the recovery room and seeing her curled up in the corner of her bed with the eyes closed and crying. I grabbed her up as soon as I could and just held her. She was pitiful! She was in and out of it for about 15 minutes. I finally got her to sit up and talk and she said "I just don't feel like myself" Oh that just broke my heart! She sat up and ate a popsicle and then they took out her IV. Then she had to go to the bathroom. She was pretty calm by this point, but still pretty dizzy from all the medicine. She almost fell off the potty and thought it was hillarioius! They let us go home about 30 minutes later. She did great the rest of the day. She thinks she looks like a ROCK STAR with her silver teeth. She ended up with a baby root canal, 3 silver caps, and one eye tooth coated. Bless her heart! I'm so glad it is over I hope we never have to go through that again!

The morning of her surgery. I sent Chris to Wal-Mart the night before to pick her out a baby doll to take. Alexis came with a cow too!

Sydney and Alexis after she drank the silly juice. Can you tell?
even more silly!
She loved her little ride in the wheelchair!

Last Monday I met up with some friends and we went to the Birmingham Zoo. It was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time!

Sydney and AR rode this HUGE camel. It cost $5.50 per person to make ONE small loop around! Crazy!

The Butterfly exhibit was pretty cool. There were tons of butterflys and some really pretty flowers.

sick baby and b'day parties

Poor little John Evan was so sick last week. I took him to the Dr. and he said he had a viral infection. Which to me means they pretty much don't know what is wrong! Anyway, long story but ofcourse he got worse when we got home and his fever spiked way up that night. His cough was so bad that he would cry everytime he coughed. I just have to mention how obsessed John Evan is woth the movie "Cars". He LOVES IT! Unfortunatley, we have gotten in the habit of turning the DVD player on everytime we get in the car and JE wants to watch "Cars" over and over. Poor Sydney is so tired of it! He says, "I wanna watch race cars". It is so cute! Here is a sweet picture of the sick baby snuggling with Daddy and sister. We were invited to three b'day parties last weekend but only made it to 2. My friend, Adella's, little girl turned one. She had a cute little party out at Bama Belle park. Ofcourse I took a picture of the cake!
Taylor-the birthday girl.....
Sarah Madeline turned 3. She had a cute little lady bug party at her house. Here is Sydney hitting the pinata.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there! I had a great one! I felt very emotional all day just thinking about how blessed I am. I have two wonderful, beautiful, healthy children! I sometimes feel overwhelmed at how much LOVE I have for them! It is amazing. Thank you Chris for working hard so that I can stay home with them and watch them grow everyday!

Saturday morning Karrie and I went and got pedicures.......

and when I got home this bike was waiting for me! Chris let Sydney pick it out so ofcourse it is purple. I was definately surprised by the gift! I have not ridden a "moving" bike in YEARS! So, it was definately a funny sight seeing me get up on it! I hope I get the hang of it soon! I also got 2 really sweet cards!
Thank you Chris, Sydney, and John Evan for a wonderful Mother's Day!

5K Fund Run

I know- I know it is hard to believe but I did not have my camera with me for this race!

This race was the 3rd of May. Woke up that morning and it was POURING down rain! Karrie and I were not sure if the race would be cancelled or not so we decided to go on out there. I dropped the kids off at Valoree's (thank you so much Valoree for keeping the kids EARLY on a Saturday morning!) and we headed out to DCH Northport. The race was on. It started about an hour late but luckily we didn't have to run in the rain at all. It was a tough course with a lot of hills! We finished at 30:45. The funny thing is that Karrie and I have finished together at the last two races and they always put me 1 or 2 seconds behind her and she has gotten 3rd place in our age group both times and they only acknowledge 1st-3rd place. So, poor me gets 4th place! I told Karrie I was going to trip her up next time so I could get a medal! I get the biggest rush when i finish the race! It is a really neat feeling of accomplishment! Dana M. and Meghan S. from church were there too. It was nice to hang out and talk to Dana. Karrie and I have decided to train for a half marathon. Last night we ran 5 miles and that is the most I have ever ran at one time. I have to say I am proud of myself! Sorry for the bragging!
